November 2016
Dear BCSSSD Community,
During the month of November, we celebrated the opportunity to gives thanks and appreciation for family, friends, our men and women in the armed services and for the various blessings in our personal and professional lives.
This was a month of accomplishments for which I am very proud of our students and staff. During the November Board meeting, three Board members were sworn in for a term of three years. We congratulate Ms. Kathleen Burgess, Mr. Tyler Seville and Burlington County Executive Superintendent, Daryl Minus-Vincent.
Also during the month, select administrators from both BCIT and BCSSSD and their respective Districts, were awarded the Benjamin B. Tregoe Award for Strategic Leadership in Education and for organizational excellence in collaborative decision making and achieving exceptional results. Just recently, our BCIT admissions team launched the live high school admissions link for the 2017-2018 school year. Please spread the word. We are very excited about the Application's new look!
As we anticipate the month of December, we are proud of the hard work behind the scenes to kick off the holidays on December 15, 2016 at BCSSSD Westampton for the Annual Holiday Show and Craft Fair. For those who anticipate the annual production of the BCIT Medford Performing Arts Winter Play on December 2, 3, 9 and 10, mark your calendars and see the flyer in this newsletter. It shall be a night to remember. Thank you for your support and gift of your children.

November Greetings from Mr. McLemore
Dear BCSSSD Community,
The Burlington County Special Services Westampton Campus has exciting things happening during the months of November and December. On Wednesday and Friday, November 16 & 18 we recognized Military Appreciation by having various veterans and active military staff come in to speak to our students. It was a well received and exciting program.
Also during the month of November, we create gift food baskets for our students and their families who are in need. These baskets include a turkey with a variety of Thanksgiving food items, as well as other food items such as pancake mix and syrup. The turkeys were donated by the Burlington County Food Pantry. All additional food was purchased and donated by our Westampton Campus Staff. Through their generosity we were able to create 21 Elementary School Baskets, 18 Middle School Baskets, and 26 High School Baskets. In addition, each campus hosted a special Thanksgiving luncheon for their students. Each staff member participated in these celebratory events and were enjoyed by all.
Last, during the month of December the Westampton Campus Staff along with the help of the Lumberton Campus Staff will host a Holiday Show and Craft Fair on Thursday Night, December 15th.
Sincerely,
Russell McLemore
Principal, Westampton Campus

Westampton Campus Graphic Design teacher uses technology to assist instruction in her classroom
Ms. Hogan:
"I needed to figure out a way in a highly technical class to be able to help all levels of progress in my class. One way that I decided to try was to create video tutorials based on my lessons. I launched the webpage with three videos that will allow the students to watch and even re-watch me completing the new skill as many times as they need. They can even pause and rewind until they fully understand the new skill, allowing students to work step-by-step going back and forth from the video to Photoshop as needed. This will help eliminate waiting time in class so the students will be engaged in learning the whole time and not sitting waiting for help."
Way to innovate Ms. Hogan!
