Read Across America Week
Thursday, March 2nd, will be Dr. Suess Literacy Night from 6-7 p.m. in the Prairie gym . Come join us for a fun-filled evening of games, activities and learning. You will have a chance to use QR codes (Green Eggs and Ham), write about imaginery pets (What Pet Should I Get) and take off with other fun activities. Free snacks will be available. At the completion of our journey, Prairie learners can put their name in a drawing for a new book.
A Special Storytime Event
Steve Antony, author & illustrator of the Mr. Panda Series, The Queen’s Hat, Betty Goes Bananas, Green Lizards vs. Red Triangles and more, will be at the Mayfair Barnes & Noble Store on Sunday, February 19th at 1:00 p.m.
His stories focus on positive behaviors, manners and simply being polite to each other. Steve will lead fun filled activities for the entire family and sign copies of his award winning books.
Jump Rope for Heart 2017
We had over 50 jumpers at our after school event for all 3rd-5th grade scholars on Tuesday, February 14th. A great time was had by all and everyone certainly got a good work out for their own special heart.

Optimist Swim Meet
Paperwork has been sent home to all 3rd-5th graders for information on the Optimist Swim Meet. This is a fun event for all beginner and novice swimmers to see what a swim team and swim meet are like. Unfortunately, students who have been a member of an organized swim team or dive club as of October 1, 2016, cannot participate.

2017-18 Enrollment
2017-2018 New Student Enrollment (December - end of school year)
New Student enrollment for the 2017-2018 school year will start on December 1, 2016. If you have a child entering 4K, Kindergarten or a student currently attending a private/parochial school that needs to enroll for next school year, please stop by the District Enrollment Office. To be included in the 4K lottery, you will need to complete the enrollment process by February 3, 2017. Open Enrollment (February - April)
Wisconsin’s inter-district public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend school districts other than the one in which they live. The open enrollment application period for the 2017-2018 school year is from February 1-April 29, 2017. The application period closes at 4:00 p.m. on April 28, 2017. Late applications will not be accepted for any reason.
Parents may apply in one of two ways:
On-line (recommend) at http://dpi.wi.gov/sms/psctoc.html
Although an on-line application is recommended, paper applications may be obtained from the Department of Public Instruction or any school district. Paper applications must be delivered to the nonresident school district. School District of Waukesha applications should be submitted attention to:

Who needs to complete this process:
Students currently attending a Waukesha school via Tuition Waiver for the 2016-2017 school year.
Students who have changed residency to a non-Waukesha address between September 1st and February 3rd.
Students planning to move into an address that is outside of the School District of Waukesha between February 1 and September 1, 2017; and wish to stay in the School District of Waukesha.
Note: families that move unexpectedly after April 28th are able to complete a Tuition Waiver form for the following year.

PTA Meeting: Tuesday, February 21st at 6:30 in the Library. Aramark will be presenting and taking questions.
