New Summer Programs at BCIT! InnovateNJ & Summer Enrichment
InnovateNJ
The InnovateNJ summer program is a result of a competitive Title I grant. This grant awarded us funds to run a six-week program. The program consists of three two-week sessions. During each session, classes meet for five days face-to-face, and four times in synchronous, online sessions. Each session has two classes. One math based class with a math, science, and CTE teacher, and one ELA based class with an English, history, and CTE teacher. During that two week session, students will participate in a problem-based unit that includes the reinforcement of basic skills.
Session I Problem-Based Units:
USS Arizona- Students will complete an oil spill lab and devise a plan to deal with the ongoing environmental issue of oil leakage from the USS Arizona.
Viruses and Vaccines: Students will study how virus are spread, choose a virus, and decide whether mandatory government vaccines are warranted.
Students are provided with busing, lunch, and laptops for the duration of the program. They will learn skills in problem-solving, collaboration, technology, and all academic areas.
