A Message from your Superintendent
August 2016
Dear BCSSSD Families:
The summer vacation is more than halfway over, and back-to-school time is quickly approaching. Staff and administrators have been working diligently to ensure that when our children return to school, resources are in place to support teaching and learning. We are interviewing candidates to staff various positions. We have been working to support new curriculum advancements, and the establishment of a curriculum council to coordinate the review of data to enhance instruction and to review curriculum and instruction. In September and October, students will be mapped for classroom communication needs and staff trained on the use of new applications. Extensive efforts have been made to upgrade lesson planning and grade reporting. We have also changed some shop areas and have added an additional Functional Learning Center (FLC) room. We are working to improve technology while maintaining and improving facilities and security. Work has been done to enhance Child Study Teams, communication and responsiveness to district needs. We have embraced a commitment to create value for our students, parents and districts whom we serve.
The first day of school for students is Tuesday, September 6, 2016; this will be a full day for students and staff. Important information may be found on our district website, www.bcsssd.k12.nj.us including:
- The district calendar
- The BCSSSD Parent/Student Handbook
- Information regarding emergency school closings and delays in the student handbook
- Information regarding student menus
- District policies http://www.straussesmay.com/seportal/Public/pubELANOnline.aspx?id=ff973c0559f6462296136ee556a60d27

We wish everyone a pleasant remainder of the summer, and hope you join in our enthusiasm for another great year of learning. We have served our sending districts to learn how we can improve the scope and delivery of our services. Through the ongoing support of the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders, we look forward to continuing to pursue our shared mission to meet each of our student’s unique needs and abilities.
Sincerely,
Dr. Christopher Nagy
Superintendent of Schools
