Students may be more comfortable on the first day if they know what to expect. Please click on the button below to view or print a one-page reference that will let students know what to expect on the first day of school.
The remainder of this newsletter contains specific information relating to the start of school. We are excited to see our students and are looking forward to the first day of school.

Car Line Drop Off and Pick Up
Car Rider pick up and drop off is on the northwest side (football field area). There will be entry and exit only signs at the back parking lot for pick up and drop off. Traffic is continuous in the mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. (see map below).
Student drop off begins at 8:00 a.m. Enter the parking lot as indicated by the arrows on the map and follow the coned lane toward the building. When prompted, please have students exit on the left side of the vehicle so they are closer to the sidewalk. Students should use the entire sidewalk for unloading. Staff members will be on duty to ensure student safety as they exit their vehicles and enter the building.
Student dismissal process begins at 4:00 p.m.
Parents who arrive early to campus are encouraged to park in the area shown on the map to wait for their child. We ask that parents who are parked stand by their car and watch for their child. Once within sight, please meet them at the median near the crosswalk to escort them safely to the car.
Parents in the car line should pull up to the first cone along the sidewalk near the Bock Auditorium entrance before stopping to load.
There are a few ways parents can help us make the car line go faster:
- Please pull your vehicle all the way up to the first cone by the Bock Auditorium as directed before unloading even when it is raining
- Please have your student gather their items and be ready to exit the vehicle
- Please use the entire sidewalk along the building for unloading
- Please do not drop students off in the parking lot or on the street
Front Horseshoe Drop Off Starts at 8:30 A.M.
Please note, the doors at the front horseshoe will not be opened to admit students prior to 8:30 a.m. Please continue to use the regular car line by the Bock Auditorium if dropping off before 8:30 a.m.
Please be patient and do not form more than one line in the horseshoe to ensure student safety.

Bell Schedule
TWHS/McC Red Green 2022-23 Calendar
Red Day classes are numbered 1 through 4, Green Day classes are numbered 5 through 8. This numbering system should make it easier for students to understand their schedules.
Please click on the links below to view the Red and Green Day Calendar and the Conroe ISD Calendar for the 2022-23 Year.
Breakfast and Lunch
Information on menus, pricing, payment options, and free and reduced meals may be found at the link below. Printed applications are also available at McCullough. Should you need a printed application, please email Kelley Vader at kvader@conroeisd.net
Backpacks and Lockers
Students are allowed to carry their backpack this year. We have found that students are more organized and have no trouble being on time to their next class.
All students are assigned a locker. However, the daily use of their locker will be substantially less than in previous years. Students in Physical Education (PE) will use their locker to store their backpack in a secured location while they are in PE.
School Supplies
Calculators for Math
The Math Department would like to welcome you to the 2022-23 school year at McCullough Junior High. In order to help our students have a positive and successful math experience, we recommend that all students own a graphing calculator. A graphing calculator will be used in 7th grade Pre-Algebra Honors, 8th grade Pre-Algebra Level, high school Algebra, and high school Geometry classes. These calculators should also be more than adequate for high school and college-level work moving forward. We realize there is a cost involved, and purchase is optional, but we are hoping you see it as a long-term investment in your child's school career.
There are several options for graphing calculators, but a TI-84 Plus calculator will be used during instruction within the classroom. Each classroom will have a limited number of calculators for student use that may not be checked out for use at home. Calculators can be purchased at many local stores like Office Depot, Staples, Target, Walmart, or online at Amazon.com. Used ones at a reduced price can often be found online.
It is advisable to have your child’s name written prominently in permanent marker on the device in the event that the calculator gets misplaced.
Please feel free to contact your child's math teacher if you have any questions.
PE Uniforms
Students enrolled in PE will need a minimum of one pair of shorts and a t-shirt. These items may be ordered online at https://nhathletics.com/mccullough-pe/.
Refillable Water Bottle Containers Encouraged
More and more research points to the importance of proper hydration for health as well as both academic and athletic performance. For years, our campus has allowed and encouraged students to bring a refillable water bottle container with them to school and the classroom. Between physical education, athletics, and out-of-school activities, our students are constantly out in the Texas heat.
McCullough has been outfitted with several water bottle filling stations that are located throughout the building. Water bottle containers should have a secure lid but do not have to be clear. It is recommended that students write their name on the bottle.

Clinic Information
IMMUNIZATION INFORMATION
Two immunizations are required BEFORE entering 7th grade:
1. Tdap – (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis): 1 dose of Tdap is required if 5 or more years have passed since the last dose of tetanus-containing vaccine. (Td is acceptable in place of Tdap if there is a medical contraindication to pertussis).
2. Meningococcal (MCV4, MenACWY, Menveo, or Menactra): 1 dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine is required on or after the student’s 11th birthday. (NOTE: If a student received the vaccine at 10 years of age, this satisfies the requirement).
PLEASE NOTE: Many students have already received one or both of these immunizations, but the school may not have a record. Please turn in any updated records with Tdap (Tetanus/Diptheria/Pertussis) and MCV4 (Meningococcal) vaccines, or a current, notarized, original exemption affidavit.
Online application for an immunization exemption may be made at: https://co-request.dshs.texas.gov/
MEDICATION REMINDERS
ALL prescription and over the counter medications must be brought to the clinic by a parent or guardian. Students are not allowed to transport medications. Please note, cough drops are medication. All medication must be kept in the clinic during the school day except for emergency medications WITH appropriate physician’s orders.
Self-carry: Physician’s orders and an action plan to self-carry must be turned in to the clinic. It is strongly recommended that spare emergency medication be kept in the clinic in case a student is unable to locate their personal self-carried medication.
All medications must be current, in the original container, and have a signed permission form. Forms are available in the clinic. The clinic can only keep a 90 day supply of prescription medication and a 30 day supply of over the counter medications.
OTC medications: Please read the directions on the container. The clinic is not allowed to administer medication that is not intended for the student’s age. Over the counter medication dosage must not exceed the dose recommendation listed on the bottle. The only exception is if your physician has directed a dosage greater than recommended. A physician’s order will need to be included with medication.

First of all, we would like to thank everyone for their generous support last year. Thanks to your contributions, the McC PTO was able to provide a new audio/visual system implemented in the cafeteria. This was greatly appreciated by both the students and staff. The PTO was also able to serve our teachers and staff an appreciation lunch every month.
Please consider supporting our PTO by purchasing a membership. This is our main fundraiser and a basic membership is only $25 and will get you a student directory. You may purchase a membership with the link below.
