Happy Friday Brandt School Community –
We had another awesome week of school, packed with exciting endeavors and tons of fantastic learning. Let’s take a look at the week that was and prep for the week to come.
Thanks to Mr. Munoz and his high school students for coming through to conclude our activities focusing on the positive message from the Week of Respect. Members of the Hispanic Culture Club joined some of our Kindergarten and First Grade students to write positive messages on the sidewalk outside the school with chalk. It goes without saying that our little ones thought the older students were the coolest, and the big ones in turn thought our Brandt students were equally awesome.
A huge thank you to all the members of our school community who joined in our Walking School Bus Event in partnership with the Hudson TMA Walk to School Program. It was a great sight to see so many students promoting the message of being physically active while reducing pollution.
This upcoming week, our PTO-sponsored Scholastic Arctic Adventure Book Fair will take place. A huge and mighty shout out to all of the folks who helped decorate the school for the fair. The gym and the lobby look awesome! On Monday, some special friends in costume will be on hand during arrival to build up excitement for this event. Please keep in mind that there will be extended community shopping hours for K – 5 families as follows: Tuesday, Oct. 22nd from 7:30 to 8:30 AM; Wednesday Oct. 23rd from 2:30 to 6:00 PM; and Friday, Oct. 25th from 7:30 – 8:30 AM. On Thursday, Oct. 24th, there will be extended shopping hours for Pre-K families only from 2:30 – 6:00 PM. Please keep in mind that the book fair is not open for public shopping during the instructional day. Let’s all promote a love of reading and help our PTO raise some funds!
Also, be sure to keep in mind that due to scheduled parent/teacher conferences on Wednesday, October 23rd, there is a 1:00 PM dismissal for all students. Please ensure you make appropriate arrangements to have your child picked up at 1:00 PM on that day. There will be no Passport to Learning After School Program on Oct. 23rd. Be sure to sign-up for a conference time with your child’s teacher. All homeroom teachers previously shared an online sign-up document by way of email and through Class Dojo. If you are having difficulty signing up, contact your child’s teacher directly. All are reminded that these conferences have a set duration and the teaching staff will keep to that time frame to give all parents and caregivers an equitable amount of time for a conference.
In an effort to promote community connections, some of the School Resource Officers from the Hoboken Police Department will be on hand next Friday, Oct. 25th to visit out 5th graders for “Cocoa With a Cop.” This initiative will continue to build upon our existing partnership with local law enforcement. Students will have a chance to speak with the officers and we look forward to having them visit.
One final event to keep on your calendar – our annual Halloween Parade will take place at 9:00 AM on Thursday, Oct. 31st. Parade procedures and costume guidelines will be sent home this coming week.
As we take our first steps into the weekend, sometimes I just like to leave you with a few of my favorite songs for no particular reason. So with that being said, I leave you with:
Mr. Bartlett’s “Random Weekend Vol. 1” Playlist
“Uncertain Smile” by The The
“Over the Hills and Far Away” by Led Zeppelin
“Smile” by Pearl Jam
