The Ludwig Ledger
March 2022
Dear Ludwig Families,
February was a busy, yet productive month of activities! In the beginning of February, we had our first FASTBridge Growth Parade. It was great to see the smiles on the students' faces as they held their own signs communicating how they have grown from fall to winter.
Ms. Grahovec and her student mentors led the students in the Health and Hygiene talks during PE classes on Valentine's Day. Our students did a great job of preparing and presenting!
Thank you to all of the families that helped their students fundraiser for the Kids' Heart Challenge this year. You may remember this as Jump Rope for Heart. Thanks to Mr. Gold and Mrs. Dietz, our students were able to raise $2,401.24 for this organization. Congratulations to Layla Brandt, Karson Ouimet, and Jonathan Mammosser for being our top fundraisers!
The Sunshine Club led Ludwig in a week filled with spirit days and kindness activities during the Random Acts of Kindness week, which was also in February. I am proud to report that Ludwig collected 1,485 items for the Fairmont Food Pantry. Thank you to all of our families that donated to this worthy cause!

Random Acts of Kindness
Our 4th graders will have an "in house" field trip on March 8th and 11th called "Whoose Bones." The Forest Preserve District of Will County will virtually work with our students to dissect and reconstruct findings in owl pellets. This experience helps our students learn about food chains and predator/prey relationships.
A few of our 4th grade classes will be participating in a Wax Museum to demonstrate their learning during Black History Month. Our students will be taking the IAR tests March 14 - 17 and March 21.
On March 18th, Ludwig will be holding an Open Gym Social fundraiser for the St. Baldrick's organization to help Kids Conquer Cancer. Only Ludwig students may attend. Information was sent home and the entry fee is $5.00. Under Mr. Hagedorn's direction, 5th grade students will host a pod-cast-athon on Friday, March 25th. During this time students will interview students and staff members and seek monetary donations for St. Baldrick's. More information to come on how families can tune in!
Mrs. Danley has been working with our 5th grade students in preparation for the musical, Pirates, which will take place on March 18th. We can't wait to see the performance!
We will wrap up the month of March with our spring break that will begin on March 28th.

5Essentials Parent Survey
We would appreciate it if families would complete the 5Essentials Survey for Ludwig School. This survey generates valuable data that our district can use to guide our ongoing efforts to improve our schools and to offer students an excellent education. The survey is another improvement tool that will allow our district and state to share data as a means to inform parents and community members about our school’s learning environment. The Illinois 5Essentials Survey is administered online by Chicago Impact at the University of Chicago on behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education. Data and indicators are a result from an anonymous administration of the survey instrument.
In order for us to get results, we need at least 20% of our families to complete the survey. Here is the link to access the survey. This survey link will close on March 11, 2022. Thank you!
