Important Weekly Message from Principal Nicely
Greetings! I continue to hope that you and your families are well during this time!
October 30th marked the conclusion of the first grading period. I am so impressed with the work of our students, our teachers and our staff! Although the first quarter has ended, we realize there are many students still working to complete or submit assignments and improve their grade.
For the next several days, we will continue to accept work that students submit for full credit. Please check your ParentVue account, or sit down with your student and review their grades by using their StudentVue account. We have included a graphic explaining how students should log into StudentVue beneath this message.
If your students are missing assignments, I encourage you to reach out to teachers and work with them to get these assignments submitted as soon as possible.
As a school we will continue to work on strategies to help students manage assignments and build technology skills necessary to maintain success. UBMS will also continue to focus our attention on improving student attendance and engagement in all of the students assigned classes. We have resumed automated messages when students are marked absent in class to increase communication regarding student attendance. Please check your e-mail daily, or as regularly as you can, as teachers are reaching out to parents through this platform while teaching from home.
I am very interested in your feedback on how we are doing at UBMS with virtual learning. I have included a link to a short survey so that we can gauge what is working, and what we need to improve on. Also, there are additional resource files that may be helpful to you. This edition has The Middle Years newsletter for November, and a PowerPoint from the PWC Department of Health that contains a great number of community resources that would benefit our community.
Teachers will have a professional development / workday on Monday, November 2nd, and will not be holding teacher or team office hours. We will resume our regular Monday office hours on November 9th. There will be no school for students on Tuesday, November 3rd and Wednesday, November 4th. Asynchronous learning will resume on Thursday, November 5th.
Lastly, as an update to our transition to Unity Braxton, we have begun mural work in several areas of the building. At this point, the walls in these areas have received some primer and are a blank canvas for the muralists’ work. I know that all of our Jaguars are excited to see the progress we are making, I’ll continue to update you as these areas are transformed.
GO JAGUARS!
Sincerely,
Mike Nicely
Principal
