PTSA Association Meeting
Please join your Meadowbrook PTSA board, committee chairs, and school representatives, at our Wednesday, January 27, 2021 Association meeting (5:30pm, via Zoom). This is an important meeting for your PTSA as we elect our Nominating Committee members, who are tasked with finding and recommending next year's PTSA officers. This committee will present their report at the March Association meeting and election of officers. By the way, if you are interested in volunteering with next year's PTSA board, please let us know!
We will also have a review of our membership numbers, budget progress, audit, reports from officers, and more. If you can attend, please reply back to PTSA President Bruce Bergman (hello@RONR.pro) for the Zoom meeting information. Everyone is welcome!

iREADY
Beginning February 1, students will be taking the i-Ready diagnostic assessment. This assessment is unique in that it will give us specific information about what your child knows and what he/she needs to work on next in math and reading. The purpose of this assessment is not to give your child a score or grade, but instead to determine how best to support your child’s learning.
Students will take the reading assessment the weeks of February 1-February 12, and the math assessment the weeks of February 15-26. Students will take the i-Ready assessment over the course of multiple days in 60-minute segments. English and math teachers will be proctoring the assessment live over Zoom during the first part of their instructional block. Students will access the i-Ready assessment by going to MyPlan and finding the i-Ready icon.
In regular circumstances, students take their i-Ready assessments at school, but during these special times they might need your help in providing a supportive environment to take assessments at home. The i-Ready diagnostic assessment is an adaptive assessment and students are only expected to answer 50% of the questions correctly. It is important that you do not help your child with understanding or answering questions. Your child will benefit from your support and encouragement to ensure the information received accurately reflects what they know and what they need to work on next.
Click here for guidance and tools to help when your student is taking an i-Ready assessment at home.
Fall testing results for parents are posted in ParentVue under Test History and a Parent Guide is posted under the Resources tab.
Parents can access ParentVue in two ways: sis.powayusd.com or via MyPlan.powayusd.com and clicking on the Synergy Parent portal. Additionally, student reports are posted in MyPlan via the Student Report Center icon.

6th Grade Camp Update
Important Yearbook Information
Masks. Elections. Virtual classes. This school year will be talked about forever. The yearbook is truly the most important keepsake from this remarkable time. Our yearbook program is working hard to put together a historic book that will be looked back upon to remember one of the most unpredictable school years of all time. Order today so we make sure there are enough copies for everyone. January 29th is an important yearbook date. It marks the deadline for the following:
8th Grade Parent/Recognition Ads - Calling all proud parents of 8th Graders. Celebrate your student’s journey through middle school with a recognition ad in this year's yearbook. Reserve your space for as little as $25. Limited space is available on a first come, first served basis.
8th Grade Personal Photos - Many 8th Graders like to include a personal picture to go on the same page as their portrait in the yearbook. Like everything else, this year's will look a little different, but we are still offering personal photos for those who want them. Personal photos are usually baby or toddler photos, or photos associated with sports, interests, or hobbies. 8th graders can submit them through their Homeroom course or https://images.jostens.com/415468128
personalization on the cover of your yearbook - Imprint your child's yearbook with their name, icon, or badge. Many options available, but only through Jan.29th. This is a hard deadline that cannot be extended.
Price for yearbooks goes up after January 29th. Reserve your copy today!
Order your yearbook and/or 8th Grade Recognition Ad at:
School Pictures:
We understand that LifeTouch notified families that pictures have arrived on campus. We will have more information in the upcoming weeks about picking up your student’s school pictures.
Community of Kindness Lessons
Our second Community of Kindness lesson focused on the topic: “Glass Half Full”. Students had the opportunity in their advisory class to connect with their teachers & peers as they watched a video, discuss their personal strengths and the importance of a positive growth & resilient mindset. We hope you take the opportunity to ask your student about the monthly Community of Kindness lessons and activities.
