NEWS FROM GUIDANCE
The Junior House counselors will hold a Parent Information Night on Thursday, September 29th, at 6:30 pm in the Auditorium. Topics will include PSAT, SAT, and ACT timeline, Career Exploration and the College Planning Process. Students are welcome to attend, but will have heard the information in an extended advisory on September 21st. We look forward to seeing you!
PSAT registration is available through https://www.mypaymentsplus.com/ until October 7th, 2016, or until all seats are sold. The cost is $20 per exam. If this is the first time you are using MyPaymentsPlus for any of your students, then you'll need to create a new account; if you have an older sibling and have used MPP before, then you will just need to add the new student to your existing account. PSAT Student Guides will be distributed to students through homeroom/advisory after registration. Please print and hold your MyPaymentsPlus PSAT registration confirmation until your student receives the Student Guide.
Financial Aid Night -- The Central Bucks School District Financial Aid Night will take place on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 7:00 pm at CB South in the Auditorium. CB South is located at 1100 Folly Road, Warrington, PA 18976. The presenter will be Ms. Bonnie Behm, Director of Financial Assistance at Villanova University. Topics will include types of financial aid, the application process (using the FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid), timelines and deadlines, and tips for comparing offers of aid from various schools. Seniors and their parents are strongly encouraged to attend.
College Visits -- Each day, admission representatives from up to four colleges visit CBW. Juniors and Seniors are highly encouraged to attend the visits for schools they’re interested in learning more about. The representatives who come are typically the ones responsible for reviewing students’ application, so this is an invaluable opportunity to making a personal connection with that rep. Students should sign up through Naviance (College Tab →View All Upcoming College Visits), and print their confirmation page as their pass. Students may also sign up in the Guidance Office prior to the visit.

The CB West Boys soccer team had a pasta dinner prior to two back-to-back home games this week. Following dinner, the boys used the leftover food to pack 42 meals for Aid for Friends. Aid for Friends is a local non-profit that serves the five-county Greater Philadelphia region, providing home-cooked meals to isolated homebound individuals. The boys look forward to doing this again at their next pasta dinner in October.
