Eagles Exclamation

A Message from the Principal
Dear PV Eagle Parents/Guardians:
As we approach the upcoming break, I wanted to take a moment to extend my deepest appreciation for your continuous support and partnership in your child's educational journey. The upcoming break presents a valuable opportunity for your children to unwind, recharge, celebrate with family, and pursue activities they enjoy.
I hope no matter what you do or where you go, you and your family have a restful, enjoyable, and rejuvenating break.
Warm regards,
Maura R. Baskovich
Principal

Emergency Closing
Emergency Closing Notifications and eLearning Plan Review
As temperatures drop and winter weather begins, we’d like to take a moment to review our Emergency Closing notification protocols and eLearning Day plan.
If emergency days are needed due to snow or extreme cold, families will receive notification via a phone/email/text message, and an alert will be posted on our District website. KSD 140 also communicates school closure information through the District’s social media accounts and the Emergency Closing Center (ECC). Detailed school closing information can be found here.
If an emergency closing day is needed, the District may elect to use an eLearning Day instead of a traditional “snow day” that has to be made up at the end of the school year. Please refer to our eLearning Day Overview to review specifics of the plan, including school hours and access to D140’s digital platforms.
Now would be a great time to ensure your contact information is up-to-date. Please log in to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal to check your contact information and make any necessary changes.

Student Attendance
Reasons why attending school regularly is important:
Academic Success: Being present in class ensures students don't miss out on valuable lessons, discussions, and instructions. Consistent attendance allows them to stay up-to-date with the curriculum, understand concepts, and perform better in exams.
Building Habits: Middle school is a critical time for developing habits. Regular attendance instills discipline and responsibility, setting the foundation for good habits in high school and beyond. It teaches students the importance of commitment and punctuality.
Social and Emotional Development: Attending school regularly helps students develop social skills, interact with peers, and form friendships. It provides a supportive environment where they can learn to collaborate, share ideas, and develop emotionally.
Teacher-Student Relationship: Regular attendance enables students to build rapport with teachers. This relationship can be essential for seeking help, guidance, and support when facing challenges in learning or personal issues.
Preparation for the Future: In the real world, regular attendance is a requirement in most workplaces. Learning this habit early prepares students for future professional responsibilities.
