A Message from Mrs. Akers
Redhawk Families,
We continue to miss seeing our Rennell Redhawks every day! We hope you and your families are doing well and that you have been able to help your students access the Learning at Home resources to continue their learning and growth although we are apart.
Homeroom teachers have all called to check on you and their students this week. If you did not receive a call, it may be that your child's teacher doesn't have updated contact info. Please reach out to your child's teacher at their email address so that you can be in contact. You can find teacher email addresses by clicking on the envelope next to their name at this link. Please continue to look out for calls from an unfamiliar number - it could be your child's teacher as many of our teachers are using Google phone numbers. Teachers will be available from home 9 am-2 pm Monday through Friday.
You will continue to receive weekly updates from your child's teacher. Our Rennell teachers are all planning to send newsletters to you on Monday.
There were a lot of families that shared an interest in having access to the printed packets, even if they had internet access for various reasons. In response, our curriculum team posted the packets online under each grade level. They will continue to post the online learning resources as well as a digital version of the packet online each week in the Learning at Home section of the CFISD website. We hope this helps to meet some of your needs.
I urge you to continue to regularly check the district website for updates on this situation and how it impacts our school community - the link to the coronavirus update page is below for your convenience.
Again, we truly miss being together, but are still here for you! We are all working and learning differently; however, we will all work together to help our students be successful!
Beginning this past Monday, March 23, the district's official curriculum for learning at home through this season of staying home and social distancing went up and can be found on the district website under the “Learning at Home” icon (www.cfisd.net). If you have any questions or need support with these resources, please communicate with your teachers.
Our elementary Learning at Home curriculum was developed by our elementary coordinators and will be supported in weeks to come by our elementary curriculum teams, so we will continue to follow our district scope and sequence for all grade levels.
The district is strongly encouraging students and parents to participate in the district curriculum to continue student learning. Students will have opportunities to engage in many online learning platforms and programs that track participation and data, but no grades will be given.
Each grade level site in the Learning at Home platform is full of resources for each content area. Accommodations and supports for students needing specialized instruction will be a part of these resources as well.

Counselor's Corner
Redhawk families,
In the midst of all the crazy news conferences, social media postings, and overwhelming conversations, little eyes are upon us confused and wondering what tomorrow will hold. As educators and counselors, we chose our careers to help students feel safe and happy at school. This pandemic has hindered us from doing our jobs as we do wish we could. Although we are not there physically with you and your children, please know we are with you emotionally and are only a phone call, text, or email away to ease any fear or anxiety your child might feel. Even though this is not what we envisioned for these past few weeks we hope that our RedHawks will remember all the new adventures they have been able to enjoy with their families. We are your counselors and we are both mothers with small children, and know the challenges that it can bring but know it has also brought us to having 3 meals together everyday, more board game sessions than we had ever imagined, and a chance to sit- slow down and cherish this extra time with our children as a gift.
We are all in this together, so if you ever need us we are here for you! Our google voice numbers receive calls and texts so feel free to reach out!
