Spotlight on New Leader Learning-September 28, 2016
New Leader Observation Training
Dawn Bristow, 1st year Nike Elementary Principal, and Matt Agee, 1st year MVMS Assistant Principal attended a New Leader Observation Training on Wednesday, September 28, hosted by the South Central-Regional Professional Development Center, at Potosi Intermediate School.
Research-based Positive Coaching
Two of the research-based methods of observing teachers and providing feedback were the focus of the training. Positive Coaching to create Reflective Teachers. When asked what "take-aways" he learned from the New Leader training Mr. Agee stated, "Focusing on one standard for effective feedback and coaching is tough to do. He added, "It was great to see the anchor charts and explicit directions for student learning posted on all the walls of an intermediate level building."
Growing Reflective Practices in New Leaders
"All observations focused on Cause (teacher's actions) and Effect (student responses). I completed several observations and 30 second reviews this morning - powerful stuff!"
Dawn Bristow, Nike Principal
