Pinwheels for Prevention
Seventh and Eighth grade art students created clay pinwheels to bring awareness to Child Abuse Prevention Month, which occurs each year in April. "Prevent Child Abuse PA" joins in with others across the country "to recognize the importance of our children, the future they represent, and the things that we can do every day to make sure they have the great childhood they deserve today." The pinwheel is firmly established as the national symbol of child abuse prevention and The Pinwheels for Prevention™ campaign is designed to draw positive attention to the topic of keeping children safe. You can find our artists' pinwheel display in the Murray Avenue Lobby!
Message From Ms. Dilks
Here is information that we need families to know.
1) Students should charge their Chromebooks at home in preparation for school every day. This is particularly important while we have the whole school testing at one time. Please ensure that your child charges his or her Chromebook.
2) Students should bring their Chromebook chargers to school in the backpack in the event that they need to be used during the day (for school or testing).
3) Virtual students who are coming in to test will be told what room to report to by their math teachers this week. If this is their first time in the building, we will have people to help direct them where to go. We will also open the building early for their arrival starting at 7:30 am for students being dropped off. This will allow extra time to get to their testing rooms and get their Chromebooks on the network. We will have them restart their Chromebooks so they can get any computer updates they need for testing.
4) Virtual Students who are Being Picked Up After Testing: Testing typically concludes around 10:30 am. PSSA is an untimed test. Students are permitted as much time as they need. If testing will go significantly longer, we'll communicate with these families by email to let them know. Families are welcome to wait in their cars in the parking lot until their child finishes.
Thank you for your assistance with this process.
Safety Drill in April
In April, we do an intruder drill with students. This year, due to health and safety precautions, we will be doing our intruder drill as a table top exercise. We review protocols with students and will have classroom level discussions about decision making during an emergency. This table top exercise will take place this week.

Morning Car Drop Off:
-With the increased car traffic in the morning, you may want to adjust your planned arrival time.
-To assist with the increased traffic, we have placed cones outside in the drop off loop.
-Please have your students exit your vehicle when you pull up between the cones.
-Students should be ready with their belongings to exit your vehicle.
-Please make this process as efficient as possible.

Foundation Update from Sarah Brodsky:
As we move into Tax Season, we invite you to learn more on how you can decrease your Tax Liability while investing in your school. If you own a business or work for a company in the state of Pennsylvania, now is the time to act. Through Education Tax Improvement Credit Program, businesses can donate up to $750,000 each year to EITC-eligible organizations, and then claim 75 percent of that donation as a credit that offsets their state tax bill.
