MCAS Test Dates Next Week: May 11th & 12th
The next test will be in the area of math and the entire school will test on the dates below.
Why MCAS is important: Each year your child takes MCAS, he or she will receive invaluable experience with the format and use of the computer technology required of MCAS Next Generation Test. Please note that the 1993 Massachusetts Education Reform Law, state law M.G.L. Chapter 69, section II, mandates that all students in the tested grades who are educated with the Massachusetts public funds participate in MCAS, and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education regulations require a student to successfully pass the 10th grade MCAS as part of the graduation requirement. The test certainly serves as a practice leading to this 10th grade requirement.

A PRESENTATION: How to talk to your kids and Survive?
Attention parents, caregivers, and staff, please join the Marshfield Public Schools for an important presentation:
How to Talk to Your Kids and Survive
When: Monday, May 16, 2022 at 6:30 PM
Where: Seth Ventress Building at 76 South River Street
Presenter: Elizabeth Cotter, M.S., L.P.C., Effective School Solutions
Raising a child is probably the most gratifying job any of us will ever have and one of the toughest. In large part, that's because times have changed. We live in an increasingly complex world that challenges us every day with a wide range of disturbing issues that are difficult for children to understand and for adults to explain. Our kids are part of the iGen or GenZ generation. The generation born with smartphones and tablets. Let’s talk about how we can talk to our kids and survive.

CHROMEBOOK USE
We currently have limited school loaners available so taking good care of devices will help. Devices should also be charged every evening.
COMING IN TARDY OR GETTING DISMISSED?
If you wish to dismiss your child early from school, please in send a note in with your child. Your child should just stop by the office in the morning with their note, and they will receive a dismissal slip. This limits the disruptions to our students and teachers during class time.
Also, students that are tarty should have a note or a parent walk them in.
Please note that a student should not be tardy more than three times per quarter. After three, we assign a detention for each time.

Be here!
IMPORTANCE OF ATTENDANCE
Students must be on time (seated in the student’s homeroom by 7:50 AM) and at school every day. If a student is ill, we understand the concern of sending him or her in. Please always consult a physician.
Students who are repeatedly tardy, will be assigned after school detentions, and students who have more than ten unexcused absences, will meet with an administrator, and then further action will take place.
Our Attendance Policy can be found in the Student Handbook (FBMS Student Handbook, pp. 14-16). It's important for students to be here to build the necessary skills they need for success!
