Student Illness
Last week, Takoma Park E.S. students have been experiencing high numbers of students who are sick. There have been a number of cases of vomiting, diarrhea (with and without a fever), fatigue and general feelings of sickness. If your child is sick at home prior to school, please keep them at home to recover. Children must be fever free, without fever reducer, for 24 hours before they can return to school. If your child becomes sick at school, you will be contacted to pick up your child. Please come as soon as you can. The phone number in the healthroom is 240-740-0982. Please consider adding this phone number to your contacts to be sure you answer the call when your child is sick.
Weather Related School Closing Plan for MCPS
As we say a fond farewell to the warm weather, we must prepare for the possibility of school closings due to snow and ice. Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has been approved by the state of Maryland to go virtual in the event of severe weather closings. MCPS does not intend to use this option for one day closings but may choose that option in the case of prolonged emergency weather or excessive individual days of emergency weather. Now is the time to make sure your child has a device and wifi access he, she or they can use for virtual learning. Please use the link below to secure a chromebook, wifi access, technology support and information on how to navigate virtual learning. MCPS will provide wifi and chromebooks to families for virtual learning at no cost to the family. As we approach the winter months, classroom teachers will be working with students to teach them to log on to the computer, find the Mymcps Canvas classroom, use the Zoom link and engage in virtual learning. Use the attachment below to scan the QR code to get a chromebook for your child. Please request a chromebook or wifi as soon as possible. Please call the main office if you need help making a request.
