Eagles Exclamation
March 24, 2023
A Message from the Principal
Dear PV Eagle Families:
When we return from Spring Break, our students will participate in state testing called the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). This assessment is a snapshot in time of a student’s acquired skills and knowledge in English Language Arts/Literacy and Mathematics. We want our students to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have acquired throughout the school year.
On testing days, encourage your student(s) to get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast. Students should come with a fully charged iPad and Earbuds/Headphones. If your student has an Apple Watch or smartwatch, they will need to remove it and put it in their locker prior to testing. Leaving the watch at home may be the best idea.
Below is the schedule for testing. If you have any questions or want further information, please email me at mbaskovich@ksd140.org.
Have a Wonderful, Safe, and Peaceful Spring Break,
Maura R. Baskovich
Principal

Ramadan
During the month of Ramadan, separate tables have been provided in the lunch room for students who are fasting. Table games such as checkers, Uno, etc will also be available. Also, students who are fasting that receive lunch and/or milk will be able to come to the office at the end of the day to pick up their items to bring home with them. If you have purchased hot lunch for your student, they can take it home with them at the end of the day. If you've purchased ice cream for your student and you'd like for them to take it home, a parent must come pick it up to take back home during your student's lunch period. Unfortunately ice cream transported home at the end of the day wouldn't end well :(

Music in Our Schools Month
March has been a very busy month for our musicians! Congratulations go out to our Cadet and Symphonic Bands! Both bands received superior ratings for their performances at the IGSMA District Contest at Central Middle School. They will move on to perform at the State Contest on April 29th at Lockport High School. Our Jazz Band turned in a stellar performance at the Andrew Jazz Concert and featured a student led combo with Mr. Hodges on piano. Mr. Szczasny also performed with the Andrew Jazz band as a guest trumpet soloist. Not to be outdone, our chorus sang their hearts out at the Andrew Chorus Concert and performed a rousing opener with the entire Andrew Chorus. The chorus also went on tour to almost all of our elementary buildings to perform for the 5th grade classes and were very well received. Lastly, a highly select group of our 8th grade band students performed at the SWIC Honor Band Festival at Simmons M.S. As you can see, we have definitely made the most out of Music In Our Schools Month!
Mr. Szczasny, Mr. Hodges and Mrs. Angelos would like to thank our students, parents, colleagues, administrators, and school board for their continued support for our music education programs!
