Important Announcements
Buckingham Battery Collection (Alkeline/Rechargeable only)
Students from Mrs. Vice's PEN 6th Grade B Class are promoting how to properly dispose of alkeline/rechargeable batteries around the school. They are learning about the harmful substances (lead, cadmium and mercury) which can permeate into the soil, groundwater and surface water through landfills (not to mention the release of toxins into the air when they are burnt in municipal waste combustors). To help, these students have organized a Battery-Drive for the Buckingham Community throughout the spring.
Don't throw your batteries away - instead, simply placing old/expired batteries in a zip-lock bag and bring to the Main Office's "Drop-Box" - where they will be taken for proper recycling! Read More below:

KDG/1st Grade Registration - NOW OPEN!
Do you have a child who will be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2016? If so, Central Registration is open for families who need to enroll their children for next school year. Please click HERE for information on how to register your child for kindergarten. If you know of any neighbors or friends who have students who will be age 5 on or before August 31, 2016, please remind them to register their child.
The sooner the students are registered, the more effective we can be with enrollment projections and number of sections for next year. It could be the difference between two- or three-sections for a grade level!

Children's Author/Illustrator Peter Catalannotto visits Buckingham Primary Grades
Buckingham Elementary was happy to host Mr. Peter Catalanotto for a visit on Wednesday, February 17th. He has visited our school a few times in the past - we even have one of his favorite illustrations framed in our library!
Peter’s books are being read and enjoyed by thousands of children across the country, and they were certainly enjoyed by Buckingham students during library time these past few weeks! He has published over 46 books, 16 of which he wrote and illustrated himself. He brings his passion and creative expression to the children when he visits.
Peter talked to Buckingham Kindergarten through 3rd grade about how he comes up with ideas for writing: Asking yourself, "What if...?" Use your real life and add your imagination. He also told us to write all of our ideas to find the best idea. The staff and students truly enjoyed his presentation and loved hearing him share the stories we read in class. It’s always better to hear it straight from the author themselves!
Buckingham "Schoolhouse Rocks" the CB School Board on 2/23
The cast of Buckingham's Schoolhouse Rock LIVE, Jr. sang a range of songs to the Central Bucks School Board on Tuesday, February 23 - showcasing the talented student group! Central Bucks Superintendent, Dr. David Weitzel, remarked, “If they are this good now, I can only imagine how great their show will be (in April)!”
Special recognition to Reagan Hollingsworth and Carolyn Chung for their excellent solos! Buckingham will perform two-evening shows and one-daytime performance (dress rehearsal) for the students in April! These Buckingham 5th and 6th graders were great!
