MERMS WEEKLY 9/16/16
Manchester-Essex Regional Middle School Newsletter
Hello MERMS Community!
We so enjoyed Open House! It was wonderful to begin the process of getting to know one another, and it doesn't stop there. Please continue reading to learn how you can contribute to our community through School Council and by participating in our Whole School Assessment.
“True belonging is born of relationships not only to one another but to a place of shared responsibilities and benefits. We love not so much what we have acquired as what we have made and whom we have made it with.”
—Robert Finch

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The information provided through the Assessment will inform the future of our Middle School by guiding us towards professional development opportunities, helping us better refine the middle school schedule, and focusing our work as we modify, adapt, and expand our Middle School curriculum offerings.
Your input will be critical to the overall completeness and success of the assessment!
Please be on the lookout for additional information from Mrs. Maino on how you can participate through upcoming surveys.
Thank you in advance. We're hoping for as close to 100% participation as possible!
Classroom and Grade Level Updates
ENGINEERING: Students have been engaged in exciting projects including collecting data from a wind up train in order to see how a wind up train uses energy to increase its speed.
Other projects involved a Marshmallow Challenge! Students were trying to build the tallest tower, using spaghetti noodles, tape, string and a marshmallow.
We'll share pictures soon!
GRADE 8: To keep you informed about our classes, we would like to invite all eighth grade parents to sign up for Google Classroom Guardian Emails. Please click on the link for further instructions.
