Freedom Quilts
ESL students in Ms. Belt’s English classes learned about antebellum slavery through the story Uncle Tom’s Cabin. They created their own freedom quilts after learning about different symbols used in the Underground Railroad’s coded messages and reading The Patchwork Path: A Quilt Map to Freedom.

BGHS Senior Wins Local Essay Contest
Congratulations to Zachary Martin for winning the local Sons of the American Revolution Essay contest. The SAR presented Zack was with a certificate, an engraved medal, and a monetary award.
BGHS Speech & Debate Has 2 Headed to Nationals
At the KCFL State Qualifying Tournament last Saturday at LaRue County High School, Maddie Woodrum (10th) and Christian Butterfield (11th) both qualified for the National Catholic Forensics League Grand National Tournament taking place Memorial Day Weekend in Milwaukee, WI. Woodrum was the qualifying tournament’s Declamation Champion and Butterfield placed 5th in Congressional Debate. Freshman Maya Ganesh was named 1st alternate in Declamation.
Supersesson
Samuel Chang and Christian Butterfield made it into the KHSSL Congressional Debate Supersession this week at the University of Kentucky.
Robotics Challenge at North Hardin HS
Joint robotics team from Mr Fulkerson and JROTC classes took over-all 2nd place in their robot class.
Teams were from all over Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio and Michigan.
