Mill Creek Magic Minutes
‘Tis the Season For: Staying active during the winter months especially when the cold weather entices you to stay on the couch with a warm blanket…
What? Magic Minutes Challenge
Who? Students in grades K- 6
When? January 4th - February 26th
Where? School playground, home, neighborhood, local gym, etc.
Why? In the winter, it is estimated that children burn only half as many calories as they do in the summer. Not only does the lack of exercise have a negative effect on their physical well-being, it also allows kids to store up a lot of unused energy. So, what can you do to use this energy? Participate in our Magic Minutes Challenge and stay active!
How? Record daily minutes of exercise on the attached chart. Each month, you will receive a new chart in your classrooms to be completed at home for the week. All participants will return the completed chart the following Monday, including daily minutes and weekly total. Grade levels with the greatest percentage of Magic Minutes accumulated in one month will be recognized.

6th Grade Geography Bee
The sixth grade students have been competing in classroom geography bees to determine the student representatives for the Mill Creek Geography Bee. On Friday, January 8th the sixth grade homeroom representatives took center stage to compete in the final round of the competition to determine who would be the Geography Bee champion. The students answered various types of questions consisting of 50/50 questions, odd one out, and finally with three students remaining the challenge questions. Congratulations to our runner up Sean, from Mrs. Johnston's homeroom.
At the end of the competition the winner was from Miss Jarlsberg's homeroom.
Congratulations to the 2016 Geography Bee winner Casey!
Try a question or two with your family!

Answers will be reveled in our next Magic Message!
Microsoft Office - Grades 5 -12
Dear Central Bucks Families,
Central Bucks School District has partnered with Microsoft to offer Microsoft Office 365 to students in Grades 5-12. Office 365's productivity suite enables students and teachers to share documents, access Microsoft software applications online and work collaboratively. As the district increases both teacher and student access to educational technology, we wanted to remind you of a great opportunity.
Microsoft Office is available free for students in grades 5-12. Students may want to take the opportunity to install the full Office applications on up to 5 PCs, Macs or tablets for free. This includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. Students can learn more about the process here: http://www.cbsd.org/365
Once downloaded, students can work with classmates online and see each other's changes in real time with Office Online, the full version of Office or OneDrive.
