Hoboken High School Weekly Update
#redwingway
Please note that I have included our December Student Activities Calendar below. As you can see, there is plenty going on during the day, with some afternoon activities. I know many parents wanted to see what is going on, and I am confident this calendar will provide you with all you need to know. Should you still have questions about any of our activities, please reach out to Mr. Munoz at 201-356-3738.
I also included our Community Engagement Event Flyer that will take place on Saturday, December 7th, from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Monroe Community Center at 221 Monroe Street. This is in collaboration with our middle school, and it will give parents the opportunity to ask questions about anything from curriculum to our athletic programs. We will be serving light refreshments; please stop by.
If your child is in their senior year, please touch base with Mrs. Gleason to ensure they are working on their college applications. We just started our instant decision days, and this gives students the opportunity to interview with colleges and receive acceptances on the spot. Many times, they offer financial aid packages as well. Please encourage your child to get involved.

Diversity Council
On Friday, November 22nd, Hoboken High School and Middle School students traveled together to Kean University to represent our district on the Kean University Diversity Council on Global Education & Citizenship. Our students, along with Dr. Pollins and Mr. Munoz, participated in "The Power of the Individual Story" program. Students engaged in a dialogue about the legacy that each hopes to leave. In addition to social networking, the students listened to the story of Mr. Kizito Kalima, a survivor of the Rwandan Genocide.
After lunch, students broke off into conferences, participated in the Little Notes of Inspiration Activity and finally began to do some action planning.
Powerful Parents
Dr. D'Elia shares that parents of students of all high school grades were present at last night's Powerful Parents meeting. They brought cookies to share and participated in a guided meditation to arrive at a relaxed state. The topic was self-care. We discussed our current practices to ensure we stay energized and balanced to carry out the very difficult job of parenting teens. We laughed at the various things that our kids do to keep us on our toes! The group included a Spanish-speaking parent who learned about it from her attendance at the Redwing Padres gathering last week.
