A message from Principal Adkins...
Dear WW Family,
As a friendly reminder, our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for 2/7. Your active involvement in these conferences is crucial to maintaining open lines of communication with parents and ensuring the success of our students.
Please take the initiative to reach out and schedule conferences with students who would benefit from additional discussion. This is an excellent opportunity to review academic progress, attendance records, NWEA data, iReady data, Aimsweb benchmark data, and behavior metrics. Comprehensive insights into these aspects will enable more effective collaboration between teachers and parents.
Additionally, please refer to the previous email regarding retention. It is imperative that meetings are held and properly documented using the provided forms. Your adherence to this process is vital for the overall success of our students.
Thank you for your dedication to the students and their educational journey.
Welcome Ms. Armstrong
Please join me in welcoming Ms. Armstrong to the Flyer family! Ms. Armstrong is a CMSD graduate and our new PCIA. Please stop by the planning center and introduce yourself!
CMSD Pulse Check - 2/13/2024
The Cleveland Metropolitan School District is introducing a new tool for monitoring progress of key initiatives across CMSD’s 90+ schools. This tool – the CMSD “Pulse Check” - is the district's way to move beyond anecdotal evidence and test scores in understanding what is happening in buildings. The Pulse Check is aligned to the priorities identified in our AAP, and it is focused on providing snapshots of practice that allow leadership to adjust training and supports to address observed gaps.
Pulse Check visits are facilitated by a team of trained network/district observers, and the entire visit occurs over 4-5 hours. The visit culminates in a debrief that provides leadership with feedback around building-level trends and areas for growth. All of the data shared during the debrief is at the building level (no classroom-level data is shared at any point with building or district leaders), and is intended to shape future professional development within the building and across the district.
Please know that the Pulse Check is not evaluative, and cannot be used as part of teacher or principal evaluations. All visits are conducted in accordance with Appendix W of the CBA, and the observation team has a protocol that ensures minimal disruption to classrooms.
A team of observers will be visiting our classrooms February 13, 2024, from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm to observe instruction and gather data.
We are doing great work at Wilbur Wright, and I look forward to feedback from the Pulse Check team that will help us continue to grow.
