-when painted batagurs are young, their diet is mostly leafy greens, grubs and aquatic creatures
-when they grow up their diet consists of friuts such as mangosteen, rambutan,dragonfriut and bananas and leafy greens.
HABITAT
-lives in swampy wetlands in south east Asia
description
-can grow up to 60 cm long
-females are slightly larger than males
-both genders have webbed feet
-during mating season the males heads turn eggshell white and a red stripe devolops between their eyesgiving their heads a painted apperance
adaptations
-the painted batagurs shells are tough and are brown black or grey to blend in with the river bottom
-their nick name is the sawjawed terripen because their jaws look like saws which help them eat thick stemmed plants
reasons painted bataburs are endangered
-people capture them for pets and the tribes capture them for food
-the area where they lay their eggs are bought and used for construction.
