Exploretech.LA Field Trip at UCLA
Grade: 9th - 11th
Navigating career choices can be difficult, and students with little exposure or access to STEM education often feel overwhelmed and lost with their career path. Exploretech.la hopes to offer students first-hand exposure to higher education and career possibilities, preparing them for a smooth transition into college and their future endeavors.

Whittier College - Instant Admission Decision
Wednesday, February 22nd at 9:30 A.M.
Come meet with a representative for a chance to be admitted on the spot! No application is required and you must bring a graded essay or writing sample. You can receive an admission decision the same day to Whittier College!

FAFSA
- AB 469 now makes FAFSA OR CADAA completion in CA mandatory.
- You may opt-out if you choose not to complete the FAFSA/CADAA.
- To complete the FAFSA OR CA Dream Act Application, select the 2023-2024 school year.
- Select the FAFSA if you have a Social Security Number.
- Select the CA Dream Act Application if you do not have a Social Security Number.
- Students planning to attend a community college must complete the FAFSA or CADAA to qualify for the CA Promise Program (2 years FREE Tuition).
- Students planning to attend a 4-year college/university must complete the FAFSA or CADAA to qualify for ANY form of financial aid and scholarships.

Cal Grant
Cal Grant awards seniors financial aid based on their GPA and household income.
To facilitate the financial aid process, GHC will automatically upload the Cal Grant GPA for all seniors to the California Student Aid Commission no later than October 1, 2022.

Princeton Summer Journalism Program
PSJP is a year-long, tuition-free college preparation and journalism program for juniors from limited income backgrounds. Participants are accepted in May of their junior year and complete a multi-week summer journalism intensive the following summer. During their senior year, they work one-on-one with an advisor to receive personalized college application help.

The Coolidge: A Scholarship for America
The Coolidge Scholarship is an annually awarded, full-ride, presidential scholarship that covers a student’s tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate study. This one-of-a-kind scholarship may be used at any accredited college or university in the U.S. Any high school junior who plans to enroll in college in the fall of 2024 and is an American citizen or legal permanent resident is eligible to apply (current high school seniors are not eligible to apply). Winners may use the scholarship to pursue any academic major. The submission deadline is 5:00 PM eastern time, Thursday, February 23, 2023.

Girls Who Code Summer Program
Girls Who Code offers two FREE programs in the summer: the virtual Summer Immersion Program and the Self-Paced Program. Applicants can apply for BOTH programs, if eligible, using this application. However, students can only participate in one summer program. The virtual Summer Immersion Program (SIP) is a live, virtual, 2-week introductory computer science course for currently eligible
9th, 10th, and 11th grade US students and international students ages 14-18.

Intensive Immersion Program
The cornerstone of The Hidden Genius Project is our award-winning Intensive Immersion Program. This FREE, 15- month, cohort-based training program provides Black males in high school with upwards of 800 hours of holistic, trauma/healing-informed, high-touch mentorship and intensive training that seeks to develop youth into strong and responsible leaders equipped with coding and entrepreneurial
skills, who can identify and develop tech-enabled solutions to address society’s
most compelling challenges.

Psychology Winter Camp
A free event that promotes and stimulates excellence in all fields, particularly in psychology. The 2023 Psychology Winter Camp (PWC) will consist of various activities such as an undergraduate student panel, activities with Camp Leader(s) and other Camp attendees, and a UCR psychology professor's Keynote Speech, allowing attendees numerous opportunities to interact with UCR undergraduates, graduates, and faculty members, and have their inquiries regarding higher education answered; ultimately, we hope that attendees are inspired to pursue higher education and/or leave with an increased interest in psychology overall. Calling all high school students interested in the law, social justice, and taking steps toward your future- JTB’s Summer Legal Institute is the program for you! The SLI is a fantastic way to gain exposure to legal careers. Students will participate in a negotiation, go on excursions, discuss current legal issues, and network with legal professionals in your area!

Eve and Gene Black Summer Medical Career Program
This program is best described as a medical mentor program. Participants will attend daily online sessions with presentations/interactive sessions from a variety of general pediatricians, specialists, including surgeons, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, infectious disease, ophthalmologists, radiologists, child life, and therapists, (i.e., physical, speech, occupational, or cognitive).

Youth F.I.R.E Program (Fire Instruction Recruitment & Education)
The Youth F.I.R.E. Program (YFP) is offered to youth, ages 14-18 years old and is conducted in the Spring and Fall at three different locations. They are each eight Saturdays in duration and have four levels of advancement. YFP provides the students with the technical competencies in the fire service, while developing their communication, physical fitness, leadership, and life skills through LAFD mentors as positive role models.

The Exposing Students to Regenerative Medicine (ExStRM) Program engages qualified high school students in meaningful, world-class regenerative medicine research. The selected students will be from high schools in South Los Angeles, historically known as underrepresented communities with major health disparities. The program's overarching goal will be to improve regenerative medicine treatments for individuals with unmet medical needs.

Visiting campus is one of the most important steps for students to decide what type of college or specific institution is right for them. Because of this, most colleges offer campus tours, information sessions, or open house events to showcase academic and social life. Whether these events are in-person or online, they should help students visualize themselves thriving on campus.
