STUDENT CHROMEBOOK PROTECTION PLAN
SoWashCo Schools is offering families the option of purchasing a Device Protection Plan to protect district-issued devices from accidental damage to the device; damage from fire, flood, natural disasters, or power surges; and theft (with a filed police report).
The participation cost for those choosing to enroll in the Device Protection Plan is $20 annually, per device. This is an ANNUAL protection plan where families renew each fall. (Families who waive the Device Protection Plan will be responsible for the full cost of repair or replacement of the device. The district issued device accessories, charging cable, power adapter “brick” and case (for iPad) are not covered by the plan.)
Families who qualify for federal educational benefits, such as free and reduced-price meals, will also be eligible for reduced pricing ($10 annually per device) or free coverage. If families are eligible, the pricing will automatically be calculated at checkout. In addition, families with multiple children will not pay more than $60 per year for Device Protection Plans.
Payment on Device Protection Plans is due upon issuing of the student’s device. The protection fee is non-refundable. Coverage begins upon receipt of the payment and ends at the conclusion of the scheduled school year.
Families can sign up and pay for the device protection plan through the SmartSchoolK12 website.
All electronic technologies must be used in accordance with the educational program and mission of South Washington County Schools. Although issued to the student, the iPad or Chromebook is and remains the property of South Washington County Schools. It may be reviewed and revoked at any time. The student should have NO expectation of privacy regarding content on the iPad or Chromebook.
Please note that families who waive the device protection plan will be responsible for the full cost of repair or replacement of the device. If you have any issues signing up and paying for the device protection plan, please contact fees@sowashco.org.

SoWashCo District Transportation Information
Like many school districts across Minnesota, we continue to have a critical shortage of school bus drivers. If your child qualifies for bussing, please help us make transportation services and bus routes more efficient by letting us know if your child will not be using South Washington County Schools (SoWashCo Schools) transportation for the 2022-23 school year.
If your child qualifies for bussing and will be using their regularly scheduled bus for the 2022-23 school year, there is no action needed.
If your child will not be using the bus for the 2022-23 school year, please complete the online Decline/Resume Transportation Service Form by August 1st:
Request to Decline/Resume Transportation Service
If you decline transportation for the 2022-23 school year and would like to resume at a later time, please complete the Decline/Resume Transportation Service Form and select the resume option or contact our office at 651-425-5303 or via email at transportation@sowashco.org. If a request to resume transportation is completed during the school year, you will be contacted directly. Requests to resume transportation may take 3-5 business days for student busing to be activated.
For other forms or transportation information, please visit sowashco.org/services/transportation
PLEASE NOTE: The District's Transportation Department will communicate all specific information regarding transportation arrangements directly to you in late August. Initial information will include the bus stop location, stop time and bus route number for both morning and afternoon routings. We ask that you assist our Transportation Liaison and Lake Middle School staff in making sure your student knows his/her bus assignment (bus route number) for both morning and afternoon routes. This makes their experience much more positive and less stressful during the first weeks of the school year. All routes will be posted on the transportation tab of the “Parent Portal.” Additional information can be found on District 833’s webpage at www.sowashco.org under “Services” and click “Transportation.”
