First, I am so very excited to have my on webpage on our school website. I will keep the calendar there and update it so you will always be able to know what is going on.
Second, I am trying out Smore for our newsletter. If all goes well this will be linked to my site each month and you can access it at your convenience. I am still learning this and make no promises.
Third, we have RAZ-KIDS again. The kids are thrilled. If you go to www.kidsa-z.com and type stankersley1 in the teacher name, your child should be able to access this amazing website at home. Try it and let me know what you think.
As these resources are implemented, please let me know what you think.

Young Authors Competition
Your children amaze me in their writing. This class did such a wonderful job that I started having them do their own research on the IPAD for our informational writings. (Thanks to Dr. Nason for suggestions on websites.) I was proud of how well they did as was Mrs. Compton when she came in to observe. She was quite impressed.
At Home
Reading: Continue to read with your child each day. Ask questions to make sure they are comprehending what they read. Remember, you can read to them. It doesn't always have to be the child doing the reading.
Spelling: Have your children write. When you do, hold them accountable for spelling words correctly. You will be amazed at how well they can spell when they slow down.
Math: I hear stories all the time of the students coming up with math problems. Walking down the hall one day, some of the boys were discussing the Boxtop competition. (Yes, they were not supposed to be talking, but I was enjoying listening to the conversation.) They decided that determining how many more Boxtops we needed to win was a math problem. If they continue on this path, the sky is the limit for them.
