Upcoming Events/Reminders/Notices
- Grades/Grading - I want to clarify some things about grading/grades.
- Historically, grades can be a little shocking for some students/parents at the beginning of fourth grade. I'm sure you've noticed a big jump in the content we're covering in some of the subjects. There is a big jump academically between third and fourth grade, so sometimes it takes a little longer for the students to figure out that effort levels may have to jump as well. If I am concerned about your child's grades, I will not hesitate to contact you! And as always, feel free to contact me as well.
- With the corporation's focus on Writing this year, our focus on Language/Grammar has had to change to accommodate our new Writing initiative. As we figure out how to incorporate Grammar into our LIteracy time, please understand that there will not be as many Language grades as the other subjects.
- As I stated earlier, grades are usually updated in Skyward on Friday evenings or Monday mornings. If I grade over the weekend and put in grades on Monday, those papers won't go home until Friday, so sometimes there will be grades in Skyward that you haven't seen come home yet. This can also happen if I pull papers to have students redo them or something along those lines.

Starting this month we will have one graded timed test a month. The September and October tests will be multiplication only - 50 problems in 5 minutes. Starting in November, division problems will be added (I will send more info about this in November).
For September, since it is the first test, students will have four opportunities to take the first test - meaning if they don't get 100% on the first try, they have three other chances (the best grade goes in Skyward). All other months there will only be one test.
First Try - Friday, 9/2
