The J-Hawk Experience
Info you need to know for the week of Oct 11 - 14
Message from the Principal
Block days this week will return to regular schedules this week with Block days on Tuesday and Thursday being Odd Block days and Wednesday and Friday being Even Block days. Tuesday and Wednesday are Day 1, Thursday and Friday are Day 2.
A couple of exciting items regarding October at UHS:
- October is "Post-Secondary Month" for not only our seniors but also for all of our students and staff. We will be focusing not preparing and planning for students' lives after they graduate from UHS. This might include college, university, trades school, military, work, or many more options...and/or a variety of these options listed. Our staff will highlight these options and their experiences not only through what they wear (repping their college colors this week) but also through sharing how their content areas (math, science, etc) connect to post-secondary options and more. Look for more information about Future Ready at UHS to be shared through Connections as well.
- Next week (October 17-21) is Culture Week at UHS with spirit days for dressing up (similar to Homecoming Week). Monday the 17th is National Multicultural Diversity Day. Throughout the week, we will be having our first Culture Week at UHS where all of our students and staff with be able to learn and experience the many cultures of our students and staff that make up our unique and special UHS Community! On Thursday, October 20th, after school, our CORE Club will be hosting a Culture Fair in the UHS Commons. Look for more details to be coming out in Next week's newsletter.
- Canvas access for parents - Note information shared below about parents accessing their students Canvas pages. Similar format of information will be shared with families regarding Grading for Learning in our upcoming communication.
Please continue to elevate and support each other in our UHS Community and our Urbandale community beyond, seeing and getting to know the person next to us!
Sincerely,
Tim Carver
Principal

There may be times when you feel as though you need to share something but aren’t sure who to turn to for help. Please click here for more information and how to use the system

- Do not park in Senior Center parking spots (spots nearest the Senior Center marked on the ground with signage or with standing signs).
