A Message from the Principal
February 10, 2021
Dear Holy Family Catholic School Community,
Thank you for making our 75th Birthday Bash livestream Pot O’ Gold a great success! We have been getting great feedback from you, and the students, about how much you enjoyed the event. I especially loved the student songs, history lesson, band, and other performances that were embedded into the livestream - I am so proud of all of our students!
My many thanks go to all the people who helped make this evening a success: Brenda Conway, Sophie Kriss, Sara Hiett, Kim Nappier-Pierce, our room parents, Tracy Head, Jan Barker, and Lisa Griffith, the chair of the event! We were also very happy to honor three women who have previously given many years and many hours of service to our beloved school: Lisa Phillips, Maria Orand, and Vonne Velez. A special thank you goes out to Chuck Johnson of Big Bad Wolf Creative Group for the gift of his time, and directorial, and video production talent.
The total numbers are not in yet, but we do know that the raffle sales added up to $16, 525.00 - go Hornets! This number is up from the past few years. Thank you, students and parents!
The students reported that Catholic Schools Week was awesome, especially the pep rally! The pep rally will become a new CSW tradition for our wonderful school.
I was very moved by the vocation story that Father Hoa shared with us at Mass last Thursday; we can certainly see how the hand of God was at work to bring Father and his family to America, the place where he would become ordained. Sr. Immaculata also shared her vocation story with all of us, we are so blessed to have a Dominican sister here at HFCS.
Congratulations to Kaitlyn Szostek and Samantha Lopez, we are happy to announce that Samantha and Kaitlyn auditioned for, and earned, a chair as members of the Texas Private School Music Educators Association Middle School Honor Band!
God bless, and thank you again for coming to our 75th Birthday Bash,
Ann Walters
Principal

Please know how thankful I am to our students, parents, faculty and staff for participating in this new view of Pot O'Gold. From the first pep rally kick off to the last raffle ticket sold, this evening would not have been a success without you.
Thank you Mrs. Walters and Father Hoa for your support and guidance in taking our gala in a new direction. Without your support, none of this would have happened.
Thank you to Sophie Kriss, Brenda Conway, Kim Nappier-Pierce, Sara Hiett, Jan Barker and Tracy Head for all your expertise, rounding up donations, time and talent! You were the brightest shining candles on our birthday cake!
What our community did not get to witness was the dedication to POG this year by Tracy Head and Sara Hiett. Mrs. Hiett, your creativeness with the class projects were beyond adorable. I know how many hours you put in at school. I can't imagine the personal time you invested in the projects to have such great items to bid on. Thank you! Mrs. Head, thank you for all the organization of the auction items and entering all the items into Greater Giving. Then bagging them all up in such festive birthday bash bags, on top of your day to day duties. Please know how much I appreciate you both!
I will be in touch with those who won auction items to arrange a time to come to school and pick them up. I would like to avoid handing the items out during the carline as to not slow things down, especially with the cold weather upon us this week.
Happy 75th Birthday Holy Family Catholic School!
Peace,
Lisa Griffith
