"You cannot leave the world the way it is." Dr. Janusz Korczak
Dr. Korczak was a well-known physician, author, pedagogue and radio personality in pre-war Poland. The beloved director of two Warsaw orphanages where he honed his revolutionary ideas about children's rights, Dr. Korczak perished with his children in Treblinka. In 1978 UNESCO honored the centenary of his birth by declaring it to be the "Year of Janusz Korczak " and in 1989 the United Nations based the Convention of the Rights of the Child on his work. Dr. Korczak's legacy & timeless ideas live on and are in use by educators all over the world.
