Encore Updates
for the week of September 26-30
Meet the Encore Team!
Each class rotates through Encore on a five-day rotation including: Media/Makerspace, Chinese, PE, Art, and Music.
You will receive a weekly newsletter from the team detailing what is happening in our classrooms, as well as upcoming events! This will also be available and archived through our website.
Media
This year in the Media Center we will be learning how to use the library, as well as connecting what is being learned in the classroom to books and digital resources. This week we are focusing on "Book Care" and how to take care of our books. We are also starting to check out our books!
Students will be allowed to check out a book for up to two weeks from the Media Center. They may do this during their scheduled media time or during "Open Checkout." Open Checkout is from 7:20-7:50 and from 11:00-12:00 during Week 1 and from 7:20-8:45 during Week 2.

Hi! I'm Ms. Stafford, Odell Primary's Art teacher! I graduated from UNC-Greensboro with a BFA in Art Education. I have been with Cabarrus Co. schools going on 29 years, with all of those years being with Odell! I love my job! I have two horses, 3 cats, 2 dogs, and a husband! Love being outdoors, and cartooning!
Currently, in Art class, Kindergarten students are handprint painting a HUGE American flag and the Olympic flag. First graders are looking at Chinese lanterns and parasols and are printing cherry blossoms for their backgrounds. Second graders are readying their Indian elephants for the annual Elephant parade and festival, celebrated in Jaipur. Their projects will take a few weeks to complete, and we can't wait to share them with you!
Hello! I am Tammy Ortiz, your child's music teacher at W R Odell Primary! I am a veteran teacher with over twenty-five years experience teaching elementary school age children. I share with our students many different instruments including voice, piano, guitar, recorder, and percussion; we all develop our music skills in class through singing, games, playing instruments, puppetry, and mutual respect and community with each other. I look forward to spending this year with your child and watching them grow!
