Celebrating our Veterans
Thank you from Mrs. Stephanie Jones
Dear Friends,
I am so thankful for the support and encouragement I have received from all of you. I realize that I have been so fortunate to have not only my family rally around me but to have the students, staff and families in the Sycamore community. I feel honored by your kindness. My family and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I can't wait to be back at it and see all of you again!

ANNOUNCEMENT OF CogAT TESTING
All 2nd graders will take the Cognitive Ability Test (CogAT) the week of December 5, 2016, during the school day. For those students in the other grades, you may request that your child participate in this round of testing. This is in accordance with HB 282, which requires that school districts provide two opportunities for testing to identify students as gifted. PLEASE NOTE THAT SCORES ON KINDERGARTEN and FIRST GRADE TESTS WILL NOT BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION FOR PULL-OUT GIFTED SERVICES.
Parents of 2nd graders do NOT need to request testing since it is an automatic process. However, if your child is not in 2nd grade and you would like to have your child participate in the December administration of the CogAT, use the below link to request testing. The deadline to submit your request is November 30. In order to decrease disruption to your child's instruction, this testing opportunity will take place on Saturday, December 10, at Maple Dale Elementary from 9:00 until 12:00. Please note that it is the parents' responsibility to provide transportation to and from Maple Dale.
All testing requests must be submitted using the below link. Email requests cannot be accepted. If you have any questions, please email Mindy Zellner, District Gifted Coordinator, at zellnerm@sycamoreschools.org.

BAE COLLECTION TO HELP LOCAL FAMILIES
Our food and goods collection at Blue Ash Elementary will begin Monday the 14th-Friday 18th. By this FRIDAY, our goal is to collect 1,000 items, the majority of which will go directly to families in Sycamore Schools. Operation Give Back (OGB) is an organization that provides both afterschool homework support for designated Sycamore students, as well as a Holiday Store (12/9 and 12/10) for families in our district who are in need of assistance. This drive will be facilitated by our fourth grade girl scout troop and will be their service project for the year. This is a tradition we are proud to continue at BAE. We are excited to do our part in making a difference for so many in our area.
Please send in any of the items listed below with your child. All goods should be taken directly to the classrooms. We are asking teachers to then send the items to the stage after announcements, so we can house them in one common spot. We hope that the children will be excited to see the collection growing daily, as we work our way to 1,000 by Friday!
Please contact me if you have any questions or suggestions…Thank You for your support of this exciting service opportunity.
All the best,
Kim Fidanza and the fourth grade Girl Scouts
