Device Distribution Lesson - Who's Responsible?
Throughout this week, I have visited several fourth and fifth grade classrooms to lead a discussion about the "Student Digital Device Agreement" as outlined in the purple Parent Acknowledgement form. Students had great questions and lots of things to share. The letter that I used with the class was to go home for parents. I also asked the kids to share this with parents and to contact me if they had any questions. I'm happy to talk to anyone with questions or concerns about the digital device responsibilities.
Resetting Student Passwords
Best practices suggest using strong password to keep information private. Students also have confidential information tied to their passwords, such as gifted applications, test scores, and special program information, if identified. We also have to teach students how to manage their passwords. It is highly suggested to use the following "formula" as you reset student passwords. This helps when parents call for assistance when logging in from home. The recommended method is to use "1jbdesXX# ,meaning "1" = marking period; "jbdes" = school initials; "XX" = student initials in CAPITALS; "#" = grade level. Protecting you and your students' information is priority number 1 and using a slightly varied password will help!

Back to School Ideas with Wixie
As students enter the upper elementary grades, they start to groan a little bit more about school. Not a lot, but the end of the school year was all about testing and then the summer was fun and now they are back to school. We have to get to know the students, set the classroom expectations, and make it engaging so they realize that school is more than a bubble test.
You can use Wixie for activities that will both help you get to know your intermediate students and help them take ownership of their growth and learning.
Check out these "Back to School Ideas with Wixie": have students create a BIO Poem; or what about a "Fact and Opinion About Me" activity; and finally have students use the goal setting templates to set and track their learning.
By the way, did you know that Wixie is integrated with Google Classrooom? See me for more details!
