WELCOME TO A NEW SCHOOL YEAR!
We hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer break—filled with whatever you and your family need to refresh, restore, and relax during these beautiful summer days. Although the start of school is still a couple of weeks away, this letter will give you a few things to think about before we get together again in August.
As we begin another school year at Charles Hay, there are a few things to make you aware of so that you will be able to support your child’s education. We encourage everyone to start by calendaring the following important dates. (A more detailed schedule will be sent out in the coming days.)

Now that you have registered, make sure to turn in the following documents to the front office before the first day of school-
• Copies can be brought to the Watermelon Welcome to the Registration table
• Scanned into the Parent Portal Or Sent via email to megan_walcott@engschools.net
*Supporting Documentation needed-
• Birth Certificate
• Immunization Record
• Proof of Residency:
• If you own or rent your home original deed, current lease, recent contract of sale, or mortgage statement
• current utility bill
• If you are staying with another family- ALL of the following documents are required as proof of residency.
• notarized letter that has been signed by the owner of the property.
• proof of residency for the owner of the property (see list above for acceptable documents)
• If Applicable:
· Custody agreement/court order if parents are separated or divorced Court-ordered guardianship papers if the student resides with someone other than a natural parent
· Copy of IEP (Individualized Education Program)
· 504 Documentation or RtI
Returning students
Remember each year you must go onto the Parent Portal to register and update any information for the next school year. If you have not registered for the upcoming school year, please do so now!

Log into your parent portal account
Find the Online Registration link on the bottom left corner of the page.

Elementary Assessment Days
August 13- 11:00am-7:00pm
August 14- 8:00am-3:00pm
30 minute sign ups will be available during the times listed.
Every student will need to sign up for an assessment time and students must be present. More information and sign-ups will be sent in the upcoming days.

Watermelon Welcome
Date- Friday, August 9, 2019 **WE ENCOURAGE ALL FAMILIES TO ATTEND THIS EVENT.
Watermelon Welcome- 4:00-4:45pm- Located on the west side of the school on the grass and picnic area. Enjoy some watermelon as we welcome everyone back to school! Catch up with friends, meet new families, Class lists will be posted, complete registration requirements, and sign up to volunteer!
Back to School Night- Session 1- 4:45-5:05pm Session 2- 5:10-5:30
- You will only need to attend 1 session per student, session 2 is provided for families with multiple siblings.
Parent Involvement
If interested, please fill out our Volunteer Application and include a copy of your driver's license and return them to the Front office. Applications must be renewed every school year.
Breakfast and Lunch
**FREE BREAKFAST is offered to all students enrolled in Englewood Schools.
Set up your student’s lunch account HERE!
Enrollment is easy!
- Beginning on May 1, 2019, go to www.MySchoolBucks.com or download the mobile app and register for a free account.
- Add your student(s) using their school name and student ID.
- Make a payment to your students’ accounts with your credit/debit card or electronic check.
- Any funds that are remaining in your student's lunch account after May 1, 2019 will be automatically transferred to MySchoolBucks.
Free and Reduced Meal Application
We are encouraging all Charles Hay families to submit a confidential application for free and reduced-price meals for the 2019–2020 school year. You can now apply through the Parent Portal. Remember, submitting an application is strictly confidential. If you would rather fill out a paper copy, you can come to the school’s front office and ask for a paper copy.
Staying Connected
The Charles Hay school website will keep up to date announcements, Cougar Reminders newsletters, staff contact information, student handbook, school calendar, and other tools to assist parents and students with keeping current this school year.
Please also check your child's FRIDAY FOLDER each week and return on Monday.
