Murray Avenue School Newsletter 9-21-21
Message from Ms. Dilks
Welcome back to the 21-22 school year! This year, our theme is, "Better Together." We are grateful to be together in school, and our school community is enriched by the unique contributions of every one of our students. We are excited to get to know our new students and their families. I want to provide you with some updates and also revisit some instructions for the opening of the school year.
Daily Attendance
All of your attendance reporting needs are handled by one electronic form. This will also replace the need for a phone call to the attendance line.
Please use the MA Attendance Form for the 2021-2022 school year which can be found on the MAS website homepage under Quick Links and also can be found under "Announcements."
The MA Attendance Form should be used to do the following:
-Use this form to report your child’s absence. Submitting this form will both report the absence and document it. No follow up Blue card or note is needed.
-Submit this form to sign your child into school late.
-Submit this form to sign your child out for an appointment (early dismissal). This form allows you to enter a return to school time if your child will be returning to school.
-Please contact our school nurse, Mrs. Melissa Huber, to report or discuss COVID-related absences. Her email is mhuber@lmtsd.org.
Please Note:
If you are taking an extended vacation, you will still need to complete the Request for Excusal from Regular School Attendance, familiar to most families as a vacation request form. The form is found on the Virtual Backpack under Forms.
Doctors’ notes still need to be submitted to the school attendance secretary or sent into school.
Murray Avenue Remembers 9-11
MA Recognizes Local First Responders
The Murray Avenue Social Studies Department planned classroom lessons to commemorate the events of 9-11. Students were provided background information about 9-11 and discussed the impact of those events. As a part of this remembrance, our students had the opportunity to recognize the contributions of our local first responders. Our Art Department created, "Thank You" banners for the Lower Moreland Police Department, Huntingdon Valley Fire Company, and Bryn Athen Fire Company and Ambulance Service. Students had the opportunity to celebrate the important work that is done daily by our local first responders.
MA Back to School Night
Virtual information in the form of video introductions will be sent out tomorrow for families who prefer that option.
Information from Our School Counselors
Our school counseling team has been busy welcoming our students back to school and helping them get acclimated to their new schedule and school environment. Counselors have been doing activities with new students as well as helping our grade sixth students acclimate to a middle school environment.
