MCAULIFFE MESSENGER
December 4, 2023
Dear McAuliffe Families,
As December unfolds, it's a perfect moment to recall the awesome events from November and anticipate the festivities lined up for the holiday season.
Last month, our Veteran's Day Assembly was truly remarkable. A sincere thank you to all who attended and took part in honoring our veterans. The assembly was a heartfelt tribute to the courageous men and women who have served our country. Your presence in acknowledging their sacrifices was deeply appreciated. November concluded with our productive Parent-Teacher Conferences. We value the strong partnership between our dedicated teachers and engaged parents. These conferences provided invaluable insights into each student's progress, fostering a collaborative effort to ensure academic success.
Looking ahead to December, the PTO will host our annual Winter Wonderland on Wednesday, December 13 at 5:30pm. Winter Break is imminent—a time for rejuvenation and cherished moments with loved ones. A friendly reminder: we have a half day on the 22nd with an 11:10 dismissal time. School will not be in session until January 9th, providing an opportunity for everyone to recharge for the exciting things that await us in the new year.
As winter weather approaches, please take a moment to acquaint yourself with our eLearning and emergency closing procedures outlined below.
Thank you for your unwavering support and active participation in our school community. Wishing you all a joyful holiday season brimming with warmth and happiness!
Sincerely,
Dr. Szczasny
Ms. Folliard
Emergency Closing Notifications and eLearning Plan Review
As temperatures drop and winter weather begins, we’d like to take a moment to review our Emergency Closing notification protocols and eLearning Day plan.
If emergency days are needed due to snow or extreme cold, families will receive notification via a phone/email/text message, and an alert will be posted on our District website. KSD 140 also communicates school closure information through the District’s social media accounts and the Emergency Closing Center (ECC). Detailed school closing information can be found here.
If an emergency closing day is needed, the District may elect to use an eLearning Day instead of a traditional “snow day” that has to be made up at the end of the school year. Please refer to our eLearning Day Overview to review specifics of the plan, including school hours and access to D140’s digital platforms.
Now would be a great time to ensure your contact information is up-to-date. Please log in to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal to check your contact information and make any necessary changes.
